在the 80th AcademyAwards(第80届奥斯卡)上，No Country for Old Men（老无所依）拿了最佳影片、导演、best supporting actor、best adapted screenplay 4项大奖。这个奖以及片子本身的三观让我理解困难。

准确的说，是一个连环杀手，一个杀人如麻的凶手。

地拎着气瓶走到另一个房屋，用气瓶打开旅馆房门，再用气瓶杀了美国毒品公司的三个受聘人。走出房屋前，脱掉沾满血液的袜子扔在现场。他动作连贯自然，没有杀人后的爽快，也没有丝毫激动。

在墨西哥医院的街对面旅馆。Chigurh拿着气瓶对准越南老兵Wells，同时，电话响了……先杀Wells，还是先接电话？“嘭”地一声闷响，Wells死了。Chigurh拿起电话，将腿翘到床上，以免Wells的血液沾到鞋底。Chigurh翘腿的轻快动作，犹如一位老板刚解决了一件烦心小事。

影片对这位凶手的刻画是如此的成功以至于每一个看过影片的人都会对这位凶手报以好奇，并且去尝试理解他在杀人时讲的各种哲学问题。

理解困难的来源之二：Adapted Screenplay没有原著灵魂

喜欢夸张和魔幻，原著McCarthy喜欢没有道理的无序，人们总在遇见没道理的事物时容易觉得万事魔幻。而且Coen brothers+McCarthy的组合还得了奥斯卡。

So，why do we hold一个可能被揍的观点？

因为在no country for old man原著中，流淌着礼崩乐坏的悲凉和世界还没那么坏的小火光。而这些情节在电影里太细微，因而被杀人场面盖过了风头。下面是原著的一些节选。

I read in the papers here a while back someteachers came across a survey that was sent out back in the thirties to anumber of schools around the country. Had this questionnaire about what was theproblems with teachin in the schools. And they come across these forms, they"dbeen filled out and sent in from around the country answerin these questions.And the biggest problems they could name was things like talkin in class andrunnin in the hallways. Chewin gum. Copyin homework. Things of that nature. Sothey got one of them forms that was blank and printed up a bunch of em and sentem back out to the same schools. Forty years later. Well, here come the answersback. Rape, arson, murder. Drugs. Suicide. So think about that. Because a lotof the time when I say anything about how the world is goin to hell in ahandbasket people will just sort of smile and tell me I"m gettin old. That it"sone of the symptoms. But my feelin about that is that anybody that cant tellthe difference between rapin and murderin people and chewin gum has got a wholelot bigger of a problem than what I"ve got. Forty years is not a long timeneither. Maybe the next forty of it will bring some of em out from under theether. If it aint too late.
