The Jakarta administration is to review several bylaws, including those on job opportunities, city zoning and permits, that were issued by former governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat.
The measure is being undertaken to ensure that the existing bylaws had benefited the capital, said Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno.
"There are some bylaws that we think need to be reviewed on their effectiveness," Sandiaga said on Wednesday as quoted by tempo.co.
He added that these included bylaws on job creation, zoning and permit issuance, and that a special team had been assigned to review the regulations.
Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan had said earlier that he would review a number of gubernatorial decrees and bylaws issued by Djarot Saiful Hidayat, following controversy over an allocation for political parties in the city"s 2018 budget.
Djarot was appointed governor in May and was Jakarta governor from June 15 until Anies-Sandiaga were installed on Oct. 15.
Anies said that at the end of his leadership, Djarot had even signed eight gubernatorial decrees, adding that he would impose sanctions on any civil servants who were found to be deliberating bylaws without following the principles of good governance.
"We do not want policy changes that were taken without considering the public...," Anies said.
