直接论点：旅行更能了解真实的文化，比如感受当地人的语言乃至热情，参加一些节日。

当然也可以选择另外的立场，即出去旅行了解文化是不必要的，毕竟旅行费钱，并不十分安全等等。

Nowadays, people have less time and energy to travel abroad to learn about other cultures and customs because of fast-paced lifestyle. Although more and more books and films concerning with foreign culture are produced or room for culture on Internet becomes larger, I contend that learning about a country via traveling cannot be replaced.

Indeed, books, films and the Internet provide various access to other cultures and people. For example, people obtain customs of a certain country or region by other people’s experience or stories happening during their journey or by an expertise to introduce the culture. However, these second-hand culture or customs are screened more or less by story tellers because they only pick the content that impresses them most or they are most interested in, which means many other valuable information may be neglected. Moreover, some contents are adapted to cater to audience’s taste or attract their attention.

The strongest point for traveling to other places to learn about culture is that it can bring more tangible customs and conventions. Nothing can compare to feeling the conventions in person. When visiting some places, it is unavoidable to communicate with local people, during which you will feel the indigenous language and their hospitability. You can also take part in some festival, usually the symbol of a culture, to learn more details about their traditions or conventions instead of watching these rituals through screens and then forgetting them gradually.

In sum, although books, films or the Internet are important ways to learn other cultures in this modern time, the more impressive and vivid experience of the culture gaining through traveling to other places is irreplaceable.
