Pop"s relationship with Aldridge was broken and we came super close to trading him, but then they worked shit out, he got an extension, and LaMarcus balled the fuck out. I don"t think a bunch of Spurs fans should come in here discrediting Woj because he"s saying something we don"t want to hear, and I don"t think everyone else should automatically assume this means Kawhi is gone because even if his report is accurate, it could still be resolved during the off-season.

Yeah, he"s not really saying anything here that any knowledgeable Spurs fan doesn"t already know. Both sides will have to think long and hard about their future with each other. There"s definitely some mending of fences that needs be done this summer, that isn"t new. I"m excited for it, might be a transformative offseason for the Spurs franchise.

What"s the worst that could realistically happen in Kawhi signs a max with the spurs? I doubt he"s never playing basketball again. If he"s under contract they can trade him which would be better than losing him for nothing. If they can"t trade him because Kawhi is not gonna play for another year it"s still a no-brainer signing: wtf else are you gonna do?

No one was trading a legitimate player for him and the Spurs were coming off a WCF appearance and were not interested in just dumping him for draft assets. This Kawhi situation would be a whole different story entirely
