What was his shoe deal? 350-400M for 10 years? Supermax is around 205M for 5 years and Kawhi isn’t as marketable as KD was.

Maybe I"m b7nsd but is the bigger story in this not the fact that a shoe company is directly impacting an NBA team"s roster? Having a free agent make a decision with a shoe contract in mind is one thing, but for a shoe company to essentially extort a player into leaving a team seems.... incredible, as a precedent?

KD was a top seven (salary and endorsements) in the world in yearly earnings while playing in a smaller market in Oklahoma City. He’s now fifth playing for GS, so only a marginal improvement. This is for all athletes, not just the NBA.

I do think someone that isn"t as outgoing like Kawhi might still need a bigger market to expose him. Having just a tiny bit more personality that he showed to the rest of the world might actually get him to expand beyond his market, but oh well. Would suck to see though.

I don"t want to see Kawhi in any uniform but the Spurs. That would suck.

But I get the logic behind how a large market can help push his introverted personality/brand.

However, I suspect Kawhi"s current lack of popularity outside the Spurs fan-base is probably due to the small market and his introverted personality, but ALSO the fact that the little emotion/words/public-interactions might not be as endearing as Duncan?

But from what I"ve seen Duncan was more vocal and communicative with his own teammates, while he didn"t hunger for media attention like Lonzo"s Dad or Trump or TT"s GF but his interactions with media showed his personality and humorous at times,

从不善言辞、为人低调、性格内向、场上永远保持头脑冷静、不刻意迎合媒体这几个特质来讲，伦纳德确实和邓肯很像。但是邓肯更愿意发声，愿意去和队友交流。虽然说邓肯不像球爹、川普或者TT他女朋友那样疯狂渴求媒体的关注，可从他和媒体的互动中你就经常能感受到邓肯的个性和幽默感。

while Duncan didn"t show emotions often on court because of his philosophy about suppressing ego he would still show his passion and even emotions if he truly felt them, and lastly while Duncan seemed introverted he also actually very smart & witty so he"s the quiet guy with that interjects with a quick quip that makes the entire group LOL as opposed that quiet guy who doesn"t say anything.

I personally like Kawhi, but I can see why Duncan might have been more popular.

虽然说邓肯因为他那保持谦卑的处世哲学，在球场上很少会有情绪流露，但是当他内心确实充满了热情或者激动的时候还是会展现出来的。以及最后一点，邓肯虽然看着闷，实际却是充满智慧而且十分幽默的，邓肯是那种“你说着说着，他那边突然插嘴抖个机灵逗的全队哈哈大笑”的人，可不是那些真的一句话都没有，啥也不说的人。

个人角度来说，我很喜欢伦纳德，但是我现在能够明白为什么喜欢邓肯的人更多了。
