2014年索契冬季奥运会 (2014 The winter Olympics in Sochi)即第22届冬季奥林匹克运动会，简称"索契冬奥会" ，将于2014年2月7日-2月23日在俄罗斯联邦索契市举行。索契奥运会设15个大项，98小项，共88个国家参与，这也是俄罗斯历史上第一次举办冬季奥运会。
为了纪念此次俄史上首次冬季奥运会，俄罗斯中央银行特别发行了索契冬奥会纪念钞，沿袭了我国2008年开创的发行奥运纪念钞的传统，是俄罗斯第一枚奥运纪念钞，世界第二轮首枚奥运纪念钞，冬季奥运会首枚纪念钞。该纪念钞开创两大"第一次":俄罗斯独立以来第一次发行纪念钞，同时也是当代卢布纸币第一次采用双面直立式构图。这是俄罗斯银行发行的首版奥运纪念钞，纸币图案首次设计为竖版。

2014年索契冬季奥运会纪念钞是俄罗斯发行的首枚奥运纪念钞，以蓝色为主色调，纸币图案设计为竖版，纪念钞的正面为滑雪板运动员造型，背面为奥运场馆和幻想的火鸟。
